Noresund lies on Krøderen, at the lake’s narrowest point. Water-based attractions and traces of local history give the place different facets: Storesand is a swimming area, a trip across the lake departs from Olberg brygge, and the protected oak “Den gamle mester” stands in the centre. The road connections also shape how you find your way around. When choosing a holiday apartment, you can consider whether you would mainly like to experience Noresund as a base for activities on the water, cultural experiences or a drive through the surrounding area.

Water Attractions and Boat Trips

Storesand is a swimming area in Noresund. Olberg brygge offers another connection to Krøderen: the “Fjordcruise og damptog” trip departs from there and travels across Krøderfjorden to Krøderen station. There is a large free car park at the pier, with easy access to the boat. This also makes it an interesting place for travellers who would like to include a trip on the lake in their plans.

Another public boat ramp is on Bjørøya in Noresund, below the car park at Villa Fridheim. A road leads down to it. The ramp is a separate reference point for boating activities; it should not be confused with the departure point for the trip at Olberg brygge. When looking for accommodation in Noresund, you can decide in advance whether a swimming area or a boat trip is among the experiences you want to shape your stay.

A Protected Oak and Olberg Church

“Den gamle mester” is a protected oak on the grounds of the Krødsherad rectory in the centre of Noresund. The tree became known through a poem by the parish priest Jørgen Moe. Its significance in the history of nature conservation dates back to 1914: at the time, the old oak was the first nature conservation measure taken by Norsk Friluftsråd. The tree thus connects a specific place in the centre with a literary and historical story passed down through the years.

Olberg Church is in the vicinity of Noresund. It was consecrated on 19 October 1859. The church preserves furnishings from the earlier church; in addition, Emanuel Vigeland created four chancel windows in 1917. For travellers interested in church art and local history, these details offer a distinct cultural point of interest. They are quite different from the experiences on the water and can be considered separately when deciding what you are interested in seeing on your trip.

Noresund as a Location on the Road

Noresund is on Fylkesvei 280, between Vikersund, Krøderen and Ørgenvika. In Noresund, a road branches off along the western side of Krøderen and towards Norefjell; it crosses a bridge over Krøderen. This information helps place the town within the surrounding road network without assuming a particular travel time. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can also consider whether the location along this route suits your travel plans.

For more information about nearby places, you can also visit Krøderen. Noresund also has a motorhome disposal station at Vestsideveien 1287.
