Accommodation in Rozenburg
Nature
The Landtong Rozenburg peninsula lies between the Caland Canal and the Nieuwe Waterweg and is also part of Rozenburg’s green belt. The Landtong covers 54 hectares and is rich in flowers, insects and nesting birds.
On the outskirts of Rozenburg lies the De Beestenboel city farm. Visitors can learn about animals and nature there in a playful way. Free activities are held regularly, including the Lentefeest, mini-Jeugdland and the Schaapscheerfeest.
De Beestenboel is home to pigs, cows, goats and rabbits, among other animals. Visitors can also enter the bee house and look inside a real beehive. The Dorpstuin Rozenburg is an orchard with a flower and vegetable garden.
The Landtong has flowers, insects and nesting birds. De Beestenboel is home to animals and a bee house, among other things. At the Dorpstuin, fruit trees, flowers and vegetables explicitly belong to the same site.
Views and Paths
The “De Vink” observation tower is 15 metres high and was built in 2015. From there, you can see across the Landtong Rozenburg and part of the Port of Rotterdam.
Information boards stand around the 16-metre-high observation tower on the Landtong Rozenburg. They point out what can be seen and experienced. The Landtong Rozenburg area is accessible by car and can be explored by bicycle and on foot via the footpaths.
Thus, the Landtong includes both a viewpoint overlooking the area and part of the harbour, as well as paths through the grounds. The information boards stand directly around the 16-metre-high tower and complement the visit with information about what can be seen and experienced there.
Culture
At Molenweg 30 in Rozenburg stands De Hoop, a round brick smock mill and grain mill built in 1887. The Oudheidkamer is located in the miller’s cottage at Molenweg 28 in Rozenburg, next to the De Hoop mill built in 1887.
From Koningsdag until the beginning of December, the Oudheidkamer hosts an exhibition about old Rozenburg. The “Schotten & Scheuren” route includes De Hoop windmill and leads to the Oudheidkamer in Rozenburg’s former miller’s house.
Thus, the windmill and the Oudheidkamer are not only at neighbouring addresses on Molenweg, but are also mentioned together in the “Schotten & Scheuren” route. The exhibition is dedicated to old Rozenburg and is limited to the period from Koningsdag until the beginning of December.
The (Reformed) Immanuelkerk at Kerkweg 24 was built as a restrained expressionist cruciform church with a façade tower. Part of the connecting road has been preserved in today’s Zandweg.
Local History
Among other activities, the Historical Association Oud Rozenburg organises slide shows featuring old photographs of Rozenburg. In addition to the exhibition at the Oudheidkamer, this also covers the Historical Association’s presentation of old views and photographs of the town.
