Uden is a destination for days when landscape and culture are given equal space. Wind-shaped dunes, circular trails of varying lengths, historic buildings and changing exhibitions offer different ways to get to know the town. Anyone planning a holiday apartment in Uden can tailor their outings to their own interests: one day, be active among old trees; the next, discover religious, industrial or contemporary cultural heritage.

Dune landscape and trails for different plans

The Bedafse Bergen owe their shape to the wind. Deforestation and sheep grazing exposed sand, from which the dunes formed. Today, winding paths lead through old trees; the area can also be explored on horseback. This gives the landscape a distinctive setting for nature experiences, without every visit having to follow the same rhythm.

The circular trails also differ considerably. The Bernhovenpad comprises two short circular trails of 2 kilometres each and a longer circular trail of 4 kilometres. All three trails have an adventurous and a comfort option; the comfort option is wheelchair accessible. This allows you to compare the trail lengths and options specifically. The 6.5-kilometre Berg- en Breukroute in Uden, on the other hand, is mostly unpaved and, because of several walk-through gates, is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.

Religious and industrial heritage in Uden

The monumental Sint-Petrus Church is part of Uden’s religious and cultural heritage. It houses the Nöhren organ, which is classified as a Rijksmonument – a nationally protected monument in the Netherlands. The Molen van Jetten provides a different historical accent: it was built in 1811 on behalf of Hendrica Alegonde van Gemonde. On the outskirts of Uden and at the beginning of the Maashorst, there is also the old PNEM building, which officially forms part of the industrial heritage and dates from 1917.

The museum is located in an abbey complex built in 1713 on the outskirts of Uden, which is still partly inhabited by Bridgettine nuns. The museum includes a medieval-inspired herb garden with more than 150 plants. The building, art and garden each provide their own focal points, making the visit an exploration of different historical layers.
