Omorani: Stone House, Village Church and Babuna
Accommodation in Omorani
A restored stone house in the centre, a church right next door and the Babuna River give you specific points of reference for planning your trip to Omorani. The village thus combines accommodation in an authentic Macedonian style with distinctive features of village life, culture and landscape.
A stone house in the centre of Omorani
Rancho and Vancho na Kata is a 90-year-old stone house in the centre of Omorani. It has been restored in an authentic Macedonian style and offers accommodation. Check current availability directly.
In Omorani, an old village house, also restored in an authentic Macedonian style, offers accommodation primarily on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Two aspects are useful for planning: the traditional architecture and the focus on overnight stays with breakfast. Check availability directly before finalising your accommodation plans.
The Church of Sv. Konstantin i Elena is also in the centre, right next to Rancho and Vancho na Kata. Its location makes the church a distinctive landmark in the village. The neighbouring church and stone house offer two different perspectives on Omorani: restored residential architecture and a named building in the village centre.
The Babuna River and the landscape
The Babuna River flows southeast towards Omorani, then turns northeast. Its course gives the landscape around the village a clear geographical line. If you like to get a sense of a destination’s landscape when planning a holiday, this change of direction is a striking detail. The Babuna is also one of the rivers that shape the landscape of the Municipality of Čaška.
Natural and high-altitude highlights in the wider destination of Chashka
In the wider destination of Chashka, the Babuna River and the waterfalls at its source are prominent natural features. The waterfalls are about 15 metres high. Solunska Glava is another notable high-altitude feature: the peak is the highest in the Jakupica Mountains and reaches 2,539 metres within the Municipality of Čaška. The Cheples mountain hut is located at 1,435 metres in the Jakupica Mountains, near the peak.
Damjanica Cave is considered particularly interesting to speleologists in the Municipality of Čaška. It is another point of interest for travellers whose interest in nature extends to underground landscapes. In Chashka, nature, adventure, rural ambience and local traditions are among the defining themes.
Culture and traditions in Chashka
Chashka’s cultural history offers a range of points of interest too. A 6,000-year-old spherical flute was found at the Mramor archaeological site near the settlement of Čaška. Visible remains of a Late Antique fortification, with walls about 150 metres long, survive at Banjichko Kale. Banjichko Kale is both an archaeological site and a natural monument in the Municipality of Čaška.
The churches of Sv. Bogoroditca and Sv. Petka are in Oreshe. The monastery complex of Sv. Gjorgija is located in the mountain above the village. These three named places give the cultural theme its own character, alongside the archaeological sites and stone architecture. At Bogomila, by the Babuna River, a stone bridge from the Ottoman period stands at the village entrance.
Local traditions are also reflected in festivals and cultural initiatives. The Healthy Food Fair was founded in 2006 by OOU Petre Pop Arsov in Bogomila. Depending on the weather, the Kompirijada event takes place every year in October or November in the village of Gorno Jabolchishte; check the specific dates locally in advance. The Children’s Art Colony was first established in 2008.
