Many historical and archaeological monuments have been identified within the boundaries of the village of Giluičiai. The Giluičių hillfort dates from the 1st millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium. The Giluičių archaeological settlement has a cultural layer up to 1.3 m thick. Striped, coarse and smooth pottery forms were found there. Human bones and ancient artefacts were also uncovered during gravel extraction in the fields of Giluičiai.

Landscape
The Giluičių hillfort is located on a spur of the Giluičiai Uplands. Its slopes are up to 10 m high. The hillfort also lies on the left bank of the Kriaušys stream.
Geographical location
The old village of Giluičiai lies on the shore of Lake Giluitis, approximately 3 km west of Simnas. The Giluičių hillfort can be reached from the Simnas–Kalvarija road by turning towards Šarkiškiai at the Giluičiai junction. It is difficult to find.
By the water
There is a beach at Lake Giluitis where campers can stay overnight.
