Latežeris: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lake Latežeris lies amid the dense Dainava Forests. Camping and fishing are popular at the lake in summer. Latežeris is considered an architectural monument.

Nature

A small lake called Lake Kermušijos lies on the outskirts of the village. Lake Latežeris features a unique lowland bog. Latežeris is also home to the scenic Ratnyčėlė, a tributary of the Nemunas.

Lake Latežeris is included in the municipal schedule for water quality sampling in 2026.

Culture

An exhibition of wood carvings is located in the centre of the village. Latežeris is a spontaneously developed roadside village whose buildings and farmsteads are arranged irregularly. Valuable buildings made of round or hewn logs, dating from the mid-19th century to the first half of the 20th century, have been preserved.

In the village of Naujasodė, Antanas Česnulis Sculpture Park offers walks among wooden sculptures, a windmill, a Rūpintojėlių wall and figures from Lithuanian folklore. The wooden sculptures near Latežeris are connected with legends about the great flood of the Ratnyčia River in 1841.

History

Latežeris was first mentioned in 1820. The settlement developed from two farmsteads established in a state-owned forest in 1812–1814.

The Latežeris partisan bunker is located on the bank of the Ratnyčia stream. It was built in 1947 by Pranas Suraučius-Ąžuolinis, Bronius Kukauskas-Kiškis and Bronius Sinkevičius-Paukštis. The bunker was rebuilt in 1997 and again in 2004.

On Site

The jetty at the Latežeris campsite has been adapted for people with disabilities. The campsite includes two pavilions, four sets of forest furniture, a jetty, a changing room and two fire pits.

On the route from Druskininkai to Latežeris, turn onto Latežerio Street, cross Kauno Highway, the A4 road from Vilnius to Gardinas, and then continue towards Latežeris.
