Culture and History
The Alytaus kraštotyros muziejus was founded in 1928 and presents the history of the Alytus region through modern and interactive exhibitions. It offers educational events on Lithuanian history, numismatics, archaeology and ethnography, involving work with display cases and practical tasks. The programme also includes mobile educational events as well as bookable programmes for birthdays, friends and families.
The Anzelmas Matutis Memorial Museum is located in the house where the children's poet and educator Anzelmas Matulevičius-Matutis lived from 1961 to 1985. His study, with authentic furnishings, a library, souvenirs and personal belongings, has been preserved on the second floor.
Nature
The Small and Large Dailidė Lakes are a former river channel of the Nemunas. In the natural pine forest, the 97.1-hectare Kurorto Park was established in 1930. Walking and cycling paths run around the Dailidė Lakes; there are also beaches, training areas, recreation zones, beach volleyball courts and children's playgrounds.
The VIVI Wake Park is located in Kurorto Park by the Large Dailidė Lake, next to a beach, and offers wakeboarding. The Jaunimo Park was established in 1982.
