When comparing a holiday apartment in Sokolku Parish, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions may be the most important details on the respective offer page. Which combination matters to you depends on your travel plan.

Culture

The Sokolku Parish library is located in the centre of the parish, in the same building as the cultural centre. It preserves books, periodicals, manuscripts and other documents as cultural heritage and makes the collected information accessible to everyone interested. Its regular programme includes literature exhibitions, quarterly new-book days, as well as literary and thematic events. This is complemented by library tours, handicraft activities and master classes.

Another cultural thread leads to the amateur theatre collective ANALIZ, which is dedicated to cultivating and preserving amateur theatre traditions. Library work and theatre tradition thus represent different forms of cultural engagement within the parish.

Faith and History

The Ostrones-Svētā-Aloīza Parish is located in Ustroņi, Sokolku Parish, LV-4640. The Ostrones (Ustroņu) Svētā Aloīza Roman Catholic Church was built in 1935 and has three altars with statues of saints. Services in the parish are scheduled for 14:00 on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Sokolki is approximately 7 km from Viļāni; the church in Viļāni and its surroundings are considered an important pilgrimage site.

Water and Events

On 4 June and 2 July 2024, swimming was permitted at the bathing site on the Malta River in Podļizovka, Sokolku Parish.

On 21 April 2025 at 11:00, the event „Raibas Lieldienas“ was held at the Sokolku Parish sports ground with free admission. The programme included egg rolling, egg fights, swinging and a quiz on Easter traditions.

Landscape and Local References

The hills of Tončuka Kolns, Augstais Kalns and Kudļu Kalns are located in the vicinity of Sokolku Parish. The island of Pūdnīka Sola is also located in the wider regional area. The different spatial references help distinguish nearby landscape sites from more broadly defined excursion destinations.

Another directly associated locality is Repši, which forms part of the local administrative division.

Transport

Effective 1 June 2026, two evening trips on bus route 5135 „Rēzekne–Viļāni–Strupļi“ at 18:20 and 19:12 were extended to the „Strupļu ciems“ stop. The stop was also added to the trips on bus route 5136 „Rēzekne–Viļāni–Ružina–Malta“ at 8:30, 11:20 and 13:05.

The two bus routes supplement these times with different parts of the day: route 5135 concerns evening trips, while the specified trips on route 5136 take place in the morning and early afternoon. Thus, several timetable-listed time windows are available for the „Strupļu ciems“ stop.
