Trails between water and woodland

It includes a cycle and footpath along the Roggia Montecchia at the foot of the hill. 2: Roggia Cassandra is 3.4 km long and has a maximum elevation difference of 53 metres. The different lengths and elevation differences give you clear guidance when weighing up shorter and longer routes for your daily planning.
Nature along the Sentiero dei Nievo
The Sentiero dei Nievo leads through the woodland along the Erbizo stream, which is fed by a permanent spring located further uphill. The trail is rich in wild-growing plants and is inhabited by various bird species. Here, nature can be experienced through the watercourse, woodland, plants and wildlife observation—an appealing complement to the cultural attractions of the area.
Experience architecture and history
Villa Da Schio Cita is a complex of various buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, some of which were built on the foundations of earlier Gothic structures. The villa houses a collection of works by the artist Pompeo Pianezzola and a small rural museum. Villa Forni Cerato, designed by Andrea Palladio, was built around 1570. Advance reservation is required for visits; admission is free.
The Chiesa di San Rocco was built in 1487 by the community of Montecchio Precalcino as a votive offering against the plague. It has a bell tower from the following century, an 18th-century altar and polychrome wooden sculptures. The British military cemetery of Montecchio Precalcino preserves the remains of 438 British military personnel and one Indian civilian. It is the largest British war cemetery in the Vicenza area.
Panoramic views over the Vicenza plain
Belvedere Tornieri Mazzaggio is a viewpoint above the upper Vicenza plain. From there, the view extends to the Tre Croci range, the Carega and Sengio Alto groups, the Pasubio massif and the Novegno–Summano group, as well as to the entrance of Val d'Astico. This contrast between woodland trails, buildings and expansive panoramas helps you set the right priorities for your stay and accommodation.
A holiday apartment suited to your travel rhythm
If you are planning a holiday apartment in Montecchio Precalcino, you can set the focus of your stay according to your interests: the trails represent physical activity, the Sentiero dei Nievo nature observation, while the villas, church and cemetery offer different historical perspectives. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore consider whether short nature experiences, longer stretches of trail, architecture or wide-ranging views should take centre stage.
