Ganfardine: Discover Nature, History and Holiday Apartments
Ganfardine combines nature-oriented landscape features with a specific history of aviation. This can be helpful when choosing a holiday apartment in Ganfardine: Depending on your holiday focus, natural surroundings, museums, historical sites or a regional excursion may take centre stage.
Nature-oriented areas around Ganfardine
Ex Cava Ceriani (Ganfardine) is designated as one of three zones with a high degree of natural character in the municipality of Sommacampagna. It is under absolute protection from external sources of pollution and anthropogenic contamination in order to preserve its existing natural character and strengthen ecosystem functions. In addition, the Rio Ganfardine is designated as a secondary ecological corridor and contributes significantly to the diversification of nature-oriented habitats. Those seeking natural surroundings can take this focus into account when planning their own trip.

Aviation history from 1918
The airfield at Ganfardine was put into operation between May and June 1918 during the Battle of the Solstice. On 3 May 1918, the 134th Squadriglia arrived at the airfield at Ganfardine with Pomilio PE aircraft. On 12 May 1918, the 1st Sezione S.V.A. under the command of Capitano Palli arrived at the airfield; the 75th Squadriglia da Caccia followed on 14 May 1918. From July 1918, the airfield at Ganfardine housed the headquarters of the 3° Gruppo Aeroplani. On 1 August 1918, a meeting between Bishop Bartolomeo Bacilieri and King Vittorio Emanuele III took place in Ganfardine.
A later private flying school
After the end of the hostilities, a private flying school operated at the airfield at Ganfardine from at least 1923 to 1940. Thus, in addition to the events of 1918, this later use is also part of the site's historical profile. When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home, you can therefore place Ganfardine between a nature-oriented focus and an interest in cultural history.
