Discover Pramaggiore: Wine, Culture and Nature
Pramaggiore combines a wine-making tradition, an established culture and paths through natural and cultural landscapes. The municipality forms the heart of one of Italy’s most important wine-growing regions, the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC wine route.
Wine tradition and regional insights
Pramaggiore’s wine-growing tradition culminated in 1974 with the recognition of the Lison-Pramaggiore DOC controlled designation of origin. The Fiera Campionaria dei Vini wine fair was held at the Mostra Nazionale dei Vini from 1947; in 1961, it became the Concorso Enologico Nazionale, considered Italy’s oldest wine competition. The Mostra organises programmes promoting wine, national wine competitions and international food-and-wine competitions, and is the Enoteca Regionale del Veneto. At Borgo Stajnbech, guided tours of the facility are available by prior reservation. In the former social dairy, machines and equipment for milk processing have been preserved, including two copper vats.
Churches, mill and ecomuseum
Pramaggiore is also unusually concrete in cultural terms. The Chiesa di San Marco Evangelista in the centre was built in the 14th century and is an example of mature Romanesque architecture. In the Chiesa di San Giacomo in Salvarolo, traces of frescoes depicting the four Evangelists and a wooden crucifix from the 18th century have been preserved in the presbytery. The original complex is said to date back to 1016; in the 16th century, it was renovated or rebuilt by the Counts of Altan. The Museo Etnografico del Mulino di Belfiore is located in the architectural complex of Villa Dalla Pasqua; its three buildings stand in a park with centuries-old trees. The museum extends over three floors and contains artefacts and information panels on milling and activities connected with grain cultivation. The Belfiore mill was already in operation in 1479. The municipality of Pramaggiore is part of the Ecomuseo Aquae della Venezia Orientale and participates in cultural events and initiatives to promote the municipal area and raise awareness of local activities.

For days spent cycling, the GiraLivenza route offers a direction of its own. Since 2019, Pramaggiore has been connected to the GiraLivenza cycling loop, which enhances and promotes natural and cultural sites in the municipal area near the Livenza River. The GiraLivenza section provides access to the Parco di Villa della Pasqua and runs through the park. The GiraLivenza route continues along a cycle path towards Belfiore. The park and the Belfiore mill can be included in a shared day of cycling. It begins in the centre of Pramaggiore, where visitors can use the infopoint in the library.
