Of the former Ospitale della Trinità, the attached chapel is the only surviving part. Pernumia is considered the birthplace of the playwright Angelo Beolco, who was known by the name Ruzante. The Casa del Ruzante is a private house reconstructed according to the original design of the playwright’s home. In Pernumia, you will therefore encounter both a tangible architectural remnant and a personality closely associated with the town.

Villa Maldura Grifalconi Bonacossi was built in the first half of the 18th century at the behest of Alvise Grifalconi. In 1721, the villa was sold to the Maldura family, who turned it into their country estate. The Maldura family designed the park with statues made of soft stone. The villa also included greenhouses and an orangery intended for a collection of plants, including species from abroad. The history of the estate thus combines architecture, park design and the former cultivation of unusual plants.

The Chiesa di Santa Giustina in Pernumia is one of the oldest parish churches in the Diocese of Padua. During its restoration, the remains of its original pieve, dating from the 5th or 6th century, were discovered in 1998. Fragments of valuable 15th-century frescoes have been preserved in the Oratorio della Santissima Trinità. Ca' di Dio is also known as Casa del Capitano and is a medieval building that once housed the Paduan guard. For a cultural stay, different historical layers are therefore found side by side: early religious origins, 15th-century frescoes and medieval architectural history.

Regional cuisine with its own special focus

The culinary side is also part of Pernumia’s character. At the Festa dell’Asparago di Pernumia in 2024, dishes were offered whose main ingredient was Asparago di Pernumia. The Festa took place from 24 April to 28 April 2024 and was announced as a traditional annual festival celebrating the local speciality product.

The Asparago Bianco Padovano marketed by O.P. COP comes from the designated area of Monselice and Pernumia (PD) and has particularly high-quality characteristics.

Cycling on circular routes and local connections

The “Dai Colli all’Adige” cycling network comprises two circular routes of approximately 30 kilometres each, following cycle paths and lightly trafficked roads; one stage leads in the direction of Pernumia. The indication of around 30 kilometres per circular route helps you estimate the scope of an active day and coordinate your cycling plans with the cultural interests of your travel group.

On the “Dai Colli all’Adige” cycling excursion, the route passed through San Pietro Viminario, Vanzo, Tribano and Pernumia, continuing to the ancient Oratorio della Santissima Trinità di Pernumia.
