Galzignano Terme combines the thermal world of the Euganean Basin with gardens, the Museo dei Colli Euganei and trails through the Euganean Hills. The Terme di Galzignano are part of the Euganean thermal basin and are known for their hyperthermal water, containing salt, bromine and iodine, which emerges at around 80 °C. The thermal baths are also known for their thermal mud treatments. The town therefore offers a range of ideas for a day out: nature and culture can be combined just as easily as relaxation, exercise and engaging discoveries.
Holiday apartment in Galzignano Terme between culture and garden art
A good introduction to the history and character of the area is the Museo dei Colli Euganei. It conveys the millennia-old relationship between people and nature in the Euganean Hills and presents Galzignano Terme, as well as the districts of Galzignano and Valsanzibio, in five sections covering nature, history and art. The museum and the Giardino Monumentale therefore provide two different cultural focal points: one centred on people and nature, the other on garden art.
The Giardino Monumentale di Valsanzibio provides another focal point. It contains a boxwood labyrinth that is over 400 years old. Guided tours explain the symbolic significance of the garden and some botanical aspects. The Antica Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta also stands on the Colle della Chiesa. The Colle della Chiesa is also known as “Monteselo” and dominates the surrounding landscape. Garden art, the church and the landscape emerge here as distinct themes to explore.
Trails, botany and nature on Monte Venda
Trail no. 4, the Sentiero del Monte Venda G.G. Lorenzoni, passes by the Fontana Olivato and through a chestnut forest with spring blossoms. Casa Marina is an information point in the regional park for people travelling along the park’s trails. It offers nature education programmes and a botanical garden with an area dedicated to medicinal plants. The Giardino Botanico dei Colli Euganei also reconstructs representative vegetation areas of the Euganean Hills.
Another way to combine nature with a spiritual walking experience is provided by the Cammino Laudato Si'. It leads to Casa Marina on Monte Venda, where visits to the botanical garden and the Sentiero dei pianeti are possible. At Casa Marina, nature education programmes and the area dedicated to medicinal plants complement the possible visits to the botanical garden and the Sentiero dei pianeti.
Golf and a cycling route as further ideas for a day out
Golf Galzignano has a 9-hole course measuring 2,048 metres, with an exclusive design, water features and ponds. The practice facilities include covered teeing areas, a pitching/chipping green, a putting green and a practice bunker. The Museo dei Colli Euganei can also be reached by bicycle via the Euganean Hills circular route and then along the cycling and walking path from Galzignano starting at Battaglia Terme. Golf Galzignano and the cycling route to the Museo dei Colli Euganei complement the cultural and nature themes with physical activity.
