Holiday apartment in Feriole: History, Golf and Local Culture
Feriole between Villa Emo Capodilista, the Castello, golf and local tradition
Feriole combines historic architecture and literature with golf, tennis, festive culture and a connection to Tibetan Buddhism. The various local points of interest range from a historic residence, Castello and literary villa to a golf course, a tennis facility, a month-long festival and a centre for the practice of Tibetan Buddhism. The Maggio Feriolese festival adds music, cuisine and tradition to these local points of interest.
Historic residence, Castello and literary traces
Villa Emo Capodilista is a historic residence dating from the 16th century. It stands on the Euganean hill of Mottolo near Montecchia. Feriole is also home to Castello della Montecchia. For those interested in culture, Villa del Foscolo is associated with Ugo Foscolo: he wrote part of “Ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis” there. The place name itself also has a traditional etymology. Feriole derives from an old wayside shrine dedicated to the Purification of the Virgin Mary, which was called “della Seriola” in Venetian.
Golf della Montecchia with 27 holes
A significant golf course is now located at Castello della Montecchia in Feriole. Golf della Montecchia features a technically demanding 27-hole championship course. The course was designed by the English architect Tom Macauley. For planning the duration of a round, the number of holes remains an indication of scope and does not replace a specific playing time.
Montecchia tennis facility and its management
Golf and tennis are associated with different facilities: a golf course and the Montecchia tennis facility. The Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Feriole Montecchia manages the Montecchia tennis facility under an agreement with the municipality of Selvazzano Dentro. The municipality of Selvazzano Dentro is expressly part of the agreement; Feriole and Montecchia are already included in the name of the managing club. For sports enthusiasts, the golf course and tennis facility constitute two different sports facilities.
Maggio Feriolese 2026: Music, Cuisine and Tradition
The Maggio Feriolese 2026 was a month-long festival featuring music, cuisine and tradition. The parish of Feriole’s long-established event was held for the 45th time. The programme included concerts, a food stall and themed evenings. It also featured menus with self-produced products and sweet treats. For scheduling purposes, the description of a month-long festival is relevant without specifying individual event days or daily schedules. Its one-month duration makes the festival an extended-in-time part of the local tradition.
Via Selvatico and Tibetan Buddhism
A villa on Via Selvatico in Feriole di Teolo became a place for spreading the philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism. Students from all over the world are to be accommodated at a location on Via Selvatico. The centre in Feriole is regarded as a local place, open to everyone, for the practice of Tibetan Buddhism.
