Camposampiero: Sanctuaries and Spring Landscape

Camposampiero is a destination for trips where religious art, historical traces, nature observation and paths exist side by side. Local points of interest include the Santuari Antoniani and the spring landscape of the Risorgive Fontane Bianche.

Sanctuaries and religious imagery in Camposampiero

At the Santuario del Noce, sacred history is combined with the sanctuary’s artistic furnishings. The sanctuary was commissioned in 1432 by Count Gregorio Callegari di Camposampiero. It contains a fresco cycle by Girolamo Tessari (Del Santo) depicting the miracles attributed to Saint Anthony. The apse is dominated by an altarpiece by Bonifacio De Pitati showing Saint Anthony preaching from the walnut tree.

The two sanctuaries focus on different aspects: at the Santuario del Noce, the fresco cycle and altarpiece define the interior, while at the Santuario della Visione, the preserved cell is associated with Saint Anthony’s vision.

The Santuario della Visione preserves the cell in which Saint Anthony had the vision of embracing the Child Jesus. The Madonna della Salute is a Renaissance oratory associated with popular devotion in Camposampiero.

Paths, orientation and practical points of interest on site

The Ultimo Cammino is a path approximately 25 km long that connects the sanctuaries of Camposampiero with the Santuario dell’Arcella and the Basilica del Santo. The Santuari Antoniani area can be reached on foot from Camposampiero railway station in less than 10 minutes. The area has a bookshop, a self-service refreshment area, toilets and a drinking-water fountain.

Spring landscape and natural history impressions between two municipalities

The Risorgive Fontane Bianche area, which includes a nature park area, lies between the municipalities of Santa Giustina in Colle and Camposampiero. It includes the 18th-century Chiesetta di San Prosdocimo and a distinctive wetland shaped by groundwater springs, with rich flora and fauna, parts of which are endemic to the area; the site is visited for natural history excursions. The springs, wetland and Chiesetta di San Prosdocimo bring together natural surroundings and architectural history.

Roman landscape and medieval traces in Camposampiero

Camposampiero lies in the landscape of the Roman centuriation known as the Graticolato Romano, which was laid out around the 1st century BC. The tall tower of the Torre della Rocca is the only tangible evidence of Camposampiero’s medieval past. The Treviso–Ostiglia cycle and pedestrian path runs near the Santuario del Noce in Camposampiero and adds another element connecting landscape, history and movement.

Market and annual festival day in Camposampiero

A municipal market is held every Wednesday in Piazza Castello. The Festa della Madonna della Salute takes place in Camposampiero every year on 21 November.
