Holiday apartment in Rapolano Terme: thermal baths, history and landscape
Thermal baths between green spaces and the Crete Senesi
Rapolano Terme combines thermal waters, historic sites and the landscape of the Crete Senesi. The thermal spa park of San Giovanni Terme Rapolano is located in a large green space overlooking the Crete Senesi. This view places the thermal park directly within its surrounding landscape.
The Terme Antica Querciolaia features a thermal park of more than 43,000 m² with six outdoor pools and two indoor pools. In addition, Terme Antica Querciolaia offers a thermal-water whirlpool and two Kneipp trails.
Historic centre and traces of local history
The Castellare, the oldest part of Rapolano Terme, is located in the town’s historic centre. Another prominent feature is the historic Porta dei Tintori gate, also known as Porta a Siena. It bears the year 1307 as well as the coats of arms of Rapolano and Siena. Until 1862, Palazzo Pretorio was the seat of the Podestà, the Gonfaloniere and the mayors. The town’s history thus extends from the historic centre to the district of Serre.
Serre, Grance and agricultural heritage
In the district of Serre, which belongs to Rapolano Terme, the Museo dell'Antica Grancia e dell'Olio di Serre documents the history of fortified agricultural estates known as grance. Since the 14th century, these belonged to the Santa Maria della Scala Hospital in Siena.
The Grancia di Serre is also part of the area’s history. It was built in the 13th century and served as a local centre of agricultural production, a granary and a place for processing wine and olive oil. Serre therefore represents a distinct setting for Rapolano Terme’s agricultural heritage.

The area around Rapolano Terme includes Monistero d'Ombrone, a monastery, San Salvatore a Fontebona, also a monastery, and Castello di Montelifrè, a ruin. Poggio del Sarto, a mountain, is also located in the vicinity of Rapolano Terme.
The wider regional surroundings of Rapolano Terme also include Castle of Brolio, a castle. Monte Luco, Monte San Zio and Poggio Cerrete, each a mountain, are likewise located in the wider regional surroundings of Rapolano Terme. The geographical reference therefore extends beyond the immediate vicinity.

The annual Sagra della panella e della focaccia rapolanese (Settembre rapolanese) runs from the last weekend in August until the first Sunday in September and includes a food stall.
