Sentiero 461 begins at the Badia di Morrona. Its first section alternates between enclosed stretches lined with cypresses and views of vineyards, olive groves and the clay-shaped landscapes of Chianni, Lajatico and Volterra. After about 1 km, the partly paved and partly unpaved trail reaches Via di Taneto near Morrona.

Along the side roads branching off Sentiero 451 towards the valley of the Torrente Cascina and the district of La Valle di Soiana are numerous small Etruscan rock necropolises, most of which date back to the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC.

The Badia di Morrona comprises a cloister, a monks’ refectory, gardens and the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria a Morrona.

The Church of San Bartolomeo in Morrona was extensively remodelled in the 19th century. The renovations affected the façade and the interior, with its irregular side aisles. The church houses The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew, a work of the Tuscan school dating from the 18th century.
