The Sentiero per Londa is a 12-kilometre circular hike. This distance provides a fixed route framework for planning the day. As a circular hike, the Sentiero describes a closed route in which the outward and return journeys are not treated separately. The Foresta di Rincine complements this trail with its 26 kilometres of hiking and educational paths. The focus there is not on a single loop, but on a range of trails made up of several paths.

Rocca, Piazza and Etruscan Traces

The Londa trail includes the Rocca dei Conti Guidi. Piazza Umberto I is a natural amphitheatre and is frequently used for events and performances. In the small hamlet of La Lastra, there are also rock engravings of Etruscan origin. The historical connection with the area thus extends from the Rocca, through the event square, to the Etruscan traces in La Lastra.

Festa di Settembre and Pesca d’Argento

The Festa di Settembre is associated with the second weekend of September. Its introduction dates back to the 1960s. At this festival, the presentation of the Pesca d’Argento is the highlight. The award goes to the producer who submits the best crate of the late peach variety Pesca Regina, which is typical of this area. The festival date and the award are therefore among the specific references to the local tradition.

Getting to Londa

Londa can be reached by intercity bus from Florence. Alternatively, you can take the train to Contea-Londa and then continue by bus. With the second option, the bus journey follows the train ride to Contea-Londa.
