Holiday apartment in Porticalazzo – olive oil, wine and historical discoveries
Porticalazzo offers you a variety of ways to discover Sicily through its pleasures, history and landscapes. Baglio Ingardia lies at the foot of Monte Erice and welcomes visitors to its estate, which dates back to the 18th century. During your stay, you can therefore experience both the mountain’s distinctive setting and activities centred on olive oil, wine and family traditions. Monte Erice provides the scenic backdrop, while the estate, with its tastings and historic rooms, focuses on culinary and cultural experiences.
Holiday apartment in Porticalazzo for enjoyable experiences
The “Grand Cru Tasting” is a guided tasting of four organic extra-virgin olive oils made from varieties representative of the local area. As the number of places is limited to 14 people, booking this tasting before arrival is recommended. Another enjoyable experience is “Così come Natura l'ha fatto”: it includes a guided tasting of four wines considered expressions of the island’s terroir. The Grand Cru Tasting therefore focuses on local olive varieties, while “Così come Natura l'ha fatto” connects the wine with the island’s terroir.
Baglio, family history and wine
The “Olio, Vino e Tradizioni di Famiglia” experience begins in the main courtyard of the Baglio, which dates back to the 18th century, and continues into the estate’s old private chapel. “Alla Scoperta del Baglio” takes place in the tasting room, formerly used as the family winery. The experience includes a guided tasting of two organic Grand Cru olive oils and two organic DOC Sicilia wines. The estate’s historic rooms and the culinary elements are therefore part of the same experience. At the Baglio, a main courtyard, an old private chapel and a tasting room formerly used as the family winery come together.
