Torrenova combines the coast with a history dating back to prehistoric times. Coastal bathing tourism is a source of income and could be expanded further in the future. This range is reflected in Torrenova in the coastal areas, at sites of cultural and historical significance, in traces of early settlements and in planned cycling options.

Towers with different historical connections

Only the base and the northeastern corner of Torre Cuffari remain visibly preserved. Torre Cuffari is accessible. Torre Favara is also known as Torre Marco. It displays characteristics partly of tuna-fishing towers and partly of galley towers. Torre Favara is accessible.

Monastero San Pietro di Deca

In what is now the municipal area of Torrenova, by the Platanà stream, Monastero San Pietro di Deca belonged to Basilian monasticism, which emerged in Sicily in the 5th to 6th century. In addition to religious activities, the monastery also served as a grangia, that is, an agricultural estate. A cenotaph, a church and a necropolis from the 2nd century BC located outside the monastery were excavated there. Religious, agricultural and archaeological evidence from different periods comes together at the monastery.

La Grotta di Scodonì and early traces

Lithic artefacts and pottery fragments from the Copper Age, more specifically from the Piano Conte culture, were found in La Grotta di Scodonì and the area in front of it. The cave also contains remains of a prehistoric settlement and palaeontological remains. Those interested in archaeology, early cultures or the history of the Earth will find a site with several chronological layers here. Basic hiking skills and physical preparation for the walking distance are required for the route to La Grotta di Scodonì. When planning a day in Torrenova, the route to La Grotta di Scodonì can be considered as a separate walking route.

Coast and Lungomare

The Lungomare di Torrenova is designed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The Lungomare can be included in a day plan when routes by vehicle and on foot along the sea are considered together. It is therefore one of the specific local areas you can take into account when planning days along the coast and routes through Torrenova.

Cycling between plans and online vouchers

The municipal portal of E-Bike Hub Torrenova enables the online purchase of vouchers for e-bike rental. In addition, the E-Bike Hub Torrenova project aims to create cultural and tourist routes and establish a rental service for bicycles with pedal assistance. The E-Bike Hub in Torrenova combines voucher purchases with planned routes and a proposed rental service.

Torrenova: Coast and historical traces

La Grotta di Scodonì complements this spectrum with a prehistoric settlement, palaeontological remains and finds from the Copper Age.
