Holiday apartment in Lu Lioni: Beach, nature and Sardinian cuisine
Accommodation in Lu Lioni
La Cinta is a beach that stretches for a total of three kilometres, with very fine, bright white sand dunes. Behind the dunes, typical Mediterranean maquis plants grow, including juniper, sea lily and everlasting flower. Juniper, sea lily and everlasting flower shape the visible vegetation behind the dunes.
Beach, lagoon and protected nature
Approximately halfway along the beach, there is a designated area for kitesurfing. The southern section has parking facilities and a tourist information office. Behind La Cinta lies the San Teodoro Lagoon. As a special protected area, it belongs to the network of Sites of Community Importance (SCIs). Behind La Cinta, the San Teodoro Lagoon forms a landscape that differs from the open beach.
The Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area promotes tourism, cultural, educational and recreational use in forms that are compatible with the protection of nature and the landscape.
Active days on Monte Nieddu
Monte Nieddu has winding mountain biking routes used by mountain bikers. In addition, paths and trails lead through the area for hiking, jogging and running.
Museums and historical themes
The MAST – Museo Archeologico San Teodoro provides cultural variety. It is open continuously from 10:00 to 20:00 from Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays. The opening hours until 20:00 also make it possible to plan a later cultural visit during the day. The Museo della civiltà del mare complements this focus. Its ground floor is accessible without steps and without architectural barriers. A temporary exhibition there displays finds from the inhabited area of San Teodoro, from the local waters and from nearby waters that were characterised by intensive commercial traffic in ancient times.
At the Compendio Monti Nieddu, access is permitted daily from 8:00 to 20:00 until 31 December 2026 for private individuals and authorised business operators.
Summer orientation and regional cuisine
During its 2026 summer service, the San Teodoro Express is free of charge from 1 June to 30 September and runs daily, including public holidays.
Suppa cuàta, which is typical of Gallura, is also known as Gallurese soup. It is prepared with bread, cheese and beef broth and then baked in the oven.
The Festa dell'Aglióla is a regular event in May. At this festival, visitors can taste traditional Gallurese dishes and wines offered by chefs from restaurants in San Teodoro. For annual planning purposes, the culinary festival takes place in May.
The Agriturismo L'Alculiciu catering establishment is located in the Lu Lioni district. The agriturismo was established in 1999 out of a passion for Sardinian cuisine.
