Holiday apartment in Agrustos: beaches, riding route and Augustus Populus
Accommodation in Agrustos
Agrustos lies between the island of Ottiolu and Punta Li Cucutti.
Holiday apartment in Agrustos between beach and nature
Li Cucutti is part of a beach system with dunes and a wetland in the area behind the beach. Agrustos Beach consists of light-coloured sand alternating with stones and rocks. This combination of open sandy areas and more distinctive shoreline sections gives the coastal area a varied character and offers you different impressions during a walk or a stay by the sea.
Li Cuppulati is a broad strip of sand between the pond and the sea. Footpaths lead across the pine-covered promontory separating Li Cucutti and Li Cuppulati, connecting the two sandy coves. If you like to structure your days around short distances and changing landscapes, you can experience sand, pine trees, pond and sea here in one continuous setting.
Scuba diving, marine life and exercise
The shallow seabed at Agrustos Beach is suitable for scuba diving. Visitors can observe marine life among the small rocks of Li Cucutti Cove. Parco del Sole also has a fitness trail with exercise signs and training equipment. This gives you a choice between spending time in the water, observing nature closely at the cove and engaging in sporting activity in the park, without the destination being limited to just one type of holiday.
The riding route through Agrustos also offers a unique perspective on the landscape. It begins at a riding stable and follows a path through the pine forest. It then runs along hidden little coves to the pond of Li Cucutti.
In Parco del Sole, Agrustos has a playground overlooking the sea.
Augustus Populus and Agrustos on 24 June
Agrustos is very likely the present-day location of the Roman transport post Augustus Populus. In the past, men, young people and women in Agrustos helped the fishermen returning from the sea with the “sciabica”, a seine net for shallow waters.
On 24 June, Agrustos celebrates San Giovanni Battista, Saint John the Baptist, and the summer solstice. If you also take local holidays and cultural themes into account when choosing your holiday apartment, this date is one of the specific occasions that shape Agrustos throughout the year.
Getting to Agrustos
From Olbia, follow the SS131dcn towards Nuoro; after about 30 minutes, turn right at the Agrustos exit and continue along the SP1. Starting from Olbia, the approximately 30 minutes to the exit and the subsequent change onto the SP1 form two clearly identifiable stages of the entire journey. When travelling from the direction of Olbia, the turn-off can therefore be planned as a reference point for the drive.
