Perdaxius brings together several facets that complement one another pleasantly on a trip: Nuragic traces, Romanesque religious buildings, a natural area above the settlement, and homemade baking and wine culture. If different interests come together in your travel group, you can divide your days between archaeological discoveries, landscapes and local traditions. When choosing your holiday apartment in Perdaxius, the key question is which of these topics should form the focus of your trip.

Nuraghe Camboni: Archaeology and a special path

Nuraghe Camboni is a complex Nuragic site. At the edge are the remains of three or four towers; it also includes a retaining wall that is more than 4 metres high in some places. A path in the archaeological area runs around the nuraghe and through the adjacent village to the east. This means that the site can be viewed not only as an individual structure, but also in the context of its immediate surroundings.

Perdaxius is also connected with the Cammino di Santu Jacu, a spiritual, historical, cultural, environmental and religious route. This connection particularly appeals to travellers who are interested in sacred themes, history and landscapes in relation to one another.

Churches, sanctuaries and historical details

The restored Romanesque-Pisan church of San Giacomo dates from the 13th century. Its façade is made of dark volcanic stone and is topped by a bell gable. Centuries-old olive trees stand by the Romanesque sanctuary of San Leonardo on the outskirts of the village. The façade was reconstructed in the 17th century; the doors of the cabinet housing the image of the saint feature paintings from the Spanish period.

The celebrations in honour of San Leonardo are also part of the local annual cycle: they take place on Whit Sunday. Su Corrali is a Benedictine monastery in the Pesus district of Perdaxius. In the village of Su Moinu de Perdaxius, there are also Bronze Age traces of burials in natural caves that were used as tombs. Together, these places offer a historical spectrum ranging from the Bronze Age through the Middle Ages to later religious and artistic traces.

Bacu ‘e Marronis nature area

Bacu ‘e Marronis is a nature area with a nature park overlooking a wide valley above the settlement of Perdaxius. The vegetation is characterised by particularly valuable Mediterranean maquis. This gives the landscape a distinct accent alongside the churches and archaeological sites. At the time of recording, maintenance work was under way at Bacu ‘e Marronis; maintenance work was also under way at Nuraghe Camboni at that time.

Bread and wine as part of the character of the village

Perdaxius’s homemade baking tradition includes semolina bread, wholemeal bread and wedding bread. Wedding bread is made for marriages, reflecting a special connection between baking craftsmanship and festive occasions. Perdaxius also has winegrowing, producing the grape varieties Carignano, Monica and Cannonau. These culinary themes can be just as important for planning your trip as culture and nature, especially if you would like to get to know local characteristics consciously.

Which holiday apartment suits your plans

A holiday apartment in Perdaxius can be chosen to suit your personal focus: those who primarily want to explore Nuraghe Camboni, San Giacomo, San Leonardo, Su Corrali and the Bronze Age traces can plan their trip around cultural and historical interests. Those who prefer views of the valley, the Mediterranean maquis and the nature park of Bacu ‘e Marronis can place the emphasis on the landscape. The bread tradition, winegrowing and connection with the Cammino di Santu Jacu round out the picture with culinary and spiritual interests.
