Rodari Experiences for Children and Adults

The Parco della Fantasia is a literary and educational park for children that teaches and promotes Gianni Rodari’s “method of fantasy”. At the park, the Ludoteca offers children free play or play supervised by entertainers, with wooden building blocks, a blackboard, a kitchen, an indoor swing and a crossword puzzle on the ceiling. The Museo Rodari is located in Omegna’s historic centre and is an interactive museum dedicated to Gianni Rodari and his fantastic stories.

The “Gianni Rodari” children’s literature festival is also part of Omegna. It was established in Omegna in 2014 and features a ten-day programme with theatre performances, film screenings, readings and creative activities. Admission is free, and the festival is aimed at all age groups. This creates a literary side of the town for you that extends beyond a single museum and brings together different forms of experiencing it.

Historic Centre and Art

In the historic centre, the Quartiere Vaticano preserves houses from the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries along Via del Butèr, now called Via Alberganti. The Porta Romana is a medieval gate built around the 11th century and is considered the only surviving remnant of the town’s five medieval gates.

The Collegiata S. Ambrogio has an original core that was probably built between 960 and 969 AD. The church also contains a painted and gilded wooden polyptych by Fermo Stella da Caravaggio, created in 1547. Inside the Chiesa parrocchiale di San Gaudenzio, you can see an altarpiece by Filippo Cavalazzi, created in 1567.

Monte Zuoli and the Lakeside Promenade

The Percorso Vita Monte Zuoli connects Omegna with the summit of Monte Zuoli and includes structured rest areas equipped with exercise equipment along the route. Monte Zuoli also has a circular course for mountain bikers and two natural rock-climbing facilities. For planning your day, the route to the summit, the mountain-bike circuit and the climbing facilities are therefore separate activities. Monte Zuoli offers views of Lake Orta and the surrounding mountains.

A footpath runs along the entire lakeside promenade of Omegna.
