Crevoladossola combines Alpine landscapes with traces of cultural history. The municipality extends across the Pennine and Lepontine Alps; between them lies the post-glacial Sempione Gorge, carved out by the Diveria.

Alpine landscapes and distinctive natural sites
A characteristic feature of the area is the Dolomia Bianca di Crevola. It has been quarried since Roman times and has been considered a special feature of the Ossola Valley for centuries. The quarrying links the stone to the Ossola Valley’s long history of use and gives the natural feature a clear historical context. A smaller, quieter aspect of the landscape is Lago Tana di Crevoladossola: the Via Romana hiking trail begins at the lake, and Lago Tana is regarded as a small, valuable oasis. The start of the Via Romana also makes the lake a clear starting point for route planning.
The park of Villa Renzi in Preglia is also home to the Japanese umbrella pine Koyamaki (Sciadopitys verticillata), which is designated as a monumental plant. However, it is important for current planning to note that Villa Renzi’s park is currently closed to the public due to renovation work.
Sacred architecture and historical traces
The Museo d’Architettura Sacra explains the historical and artistic development of sacred architecture in the Ossola Valley and explores in greater depth the parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo in Crevoladossola. The museum is open by prior reservation. Its subject therefore ranges from the general development of sacred architecture in the Ossola Valley to the individual parish church in Crevoladossola. The parish church itself stands in an isolated location on a rocky spur and is considered an important artistic monument.
The hamlet of Simbo also preserves tangible traces of past ways of life: several frescoes, a mill, the remains of an old communal oven and defensive loopholes in the façades of residential buildings are among its distinctive features.
Hiking and cycling with different characteristics
For hikers, the Crevoladossola–Baceno section of the Via del Gries begins at Piazza Municipio in Crevoladossola. The section is of medium difficulty and follows historic mule tracks, a gravel-road section behind Pontemaglio and village roads within the local districts. Piazza Municipio, the starting point for this section, can be reached by the Domodossola–Formazza bus route. For day planning, three different types of route should therefore be distinguished: historic mule tracks, a gravel-road section and village roads. The Domodossola–Formazza bus route is thus a specific reference point for travelling to the start of the section.
The Ciclovia del Toce offers another way to experience the surrounding area. In Crevoladossola, it runs alongside the Oasi di Preglia and then continues along a shared cycle and pedestrian path to the bridge over the Torrente Diveria. The route incorporates two specific points—the Oasi di Preglia and the Torrente Diveria—into the same cycling tour.
