The historic Roman road also points to the town’s longstanding connection with long-distance routes: it is said to have run from Mergozzo via Premosello, Vogogna and Beura to present-day Domodossola and onward north to Switzerland.

The former Latteria is now a museum with three exhibition rooms. It presents the historical processes from milk processing and cheese maturation through to sales and preservation. The Latteria Sociale di Beura was founded in 1926 so that local families could make cheese there.
Polenta di Beura also connects a regional product with the history of the town. It is a wholegrain flour made from maize grown in the Ossola Valley; the germ is retained and the flour is stone-ground. The Polenta di Beura project began in 2013 with the first maize harvest and became a company in 2015 together with the Mulino San Giorgio company.
