Sizzano DOC consists of 50 to 70 percent Nebbiolo (Spanna) and 30 to 50 percent Vespolina and/or Uva rara (Bonarda novarese). In addition, up to 10 percent of other non-aromatic red grape varieties that may be grown in the Piedmont region may be permitted. Sizzano DOC is ruby red with garnet-coloured highlights, has a vinous and distinctive aroma with delicate violet notes, and tastes dry, spicy and harmonious.
