The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Mamante was almost completely rebuilt in the first half of the 18th century. The exterior work was completed in 1728, and the interior work in 1732. Its furnishings include five altars, among them a marble high altar built in 1732 and dedicated to San Mamante. The church is also the only one in the Province of Novara dedicated to San Mamante.
The Chiesa della Madonna della Neve combines two structures: an older chapel dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie and a church in honour of the Madonna della Neve. Two arches connect the two parts. Inside, there is a restored fresco of the Madonna nursing the Child, flanked by Saint Peter and Saint Sebastian. Access is directly from the forecourt.
The Oratorio di San Rocco was built in 1631 by the community of Cavaglio after the village had been spared from a plague. Surviving 18th-century frescoes depict a guardian angel and Saint Bernard subduing the devil with a chain.
The wooden statue of Saint Roch is carried in a procession on 16 August, the day of the village district festival.
The former mill dates back to the 16th century and is located along the Roggia Molinara. It is visible from Via Martiri and Via Matteotti.
Baraggia landscape and protected nature
The ancient fluvioglacial terrace of Cavaglio features a Baraggia landscape with flat woodland, heathland and vineyards. This ancient terrace system is recognised as a biotope and protected by the Parco Regionale delle Baragge di Pian del Rosa.
Hiking, cycling and orientation
After crossing the provincial road Cavaglio d’Agogna–Ghemme, the Cavallirio–Barengo section of Il Cammino delle Colline Novaresi follows a turn-off towards the centre of Cavaglio. This specific route makes it easier to include a stay with regional hiking in your plans.
“BicinVigna con Antonelli” is a cycling tour through the Colline Novaresi. It crosses the Parco del Monte Fenera, the Piano Rosa and the Baraggia, running between forests and vineyards. When choosing your accommodation, this also allows different interests in landscapes, exercise and viticulture to serve as points of reference.
The SAF Novara–Borgomanero bus route passes through Cavaglio d’Agogna.
