The former town hall of Vinchio is home to the Casa della Memoria della Resistenza e della Deportazione. The museum route explores the relationship between the peasant world, the Resistance, and political and civilian deportation. Installations, technical structures and graphic panels present the events depicted using multimedia.

At the Davide Lajolo Museum, the visit follows a biographical route. Objects belonging to the writer are on display; the museum also has a video section that complements the biographical route with another medium.

The open-air museum “Vinchio e le colline della Barbera” illustrates the cycle of work in the vineyards. The route is organised according to the seasons of agricultural work; display cases and installations explain traditional winegrowing and traditional winemaking.

Literary trails through valley and forest

The literary trail “I bricchi del Barbera” connects Vinchio with the Noche district and leads via the Bricco di San Michele.

“I boschi dei Saraceni” descends through the green Valle del Giardino to the Tiglione. Along the ridge of the Bricco dei Saraceni, the trail returns to Vinchio, giving the tour a clear endpoint in the town.

“Il mare verde” leads to the Cascine in the direction of Cortiglione, reaches the forests of Val Sarmassa and includes the area of the “Bosco incantato”, which is associated with memories, poems and inspirations.

Val Sarmassa and palaeontological traces

The Val Sarmassa Nature Reserve features sandy and clayey outcrops with fossils, including shells and remains of marine mammals.

In the Val Sarmassa Nature Reserve, the Parco Paleontologico Astigiano offers guided visits led by park rangers or authorised nature guides upon advance booking. Advance booking is part of the preparation for the guided visit.

The Big Bench is easily accessible from the car park of the Val Sarmassa Nature Reserve. The car park therefore provides a clear reference point for visiting the Big Bench in the protected area.
