A section of the route near Castelnuovo Belbo runs along the left bank of the Belbo stream. The two sites offer different perspectives: here, you encounter the name of a pioneer of the canning industry; there, the preserved traces of a former castle.

The exterior of the Chiesa della Regina Angelorum o San Biagio is notable for its terracotta apse. Its upper finish consists of hanging arches on moulded corbels. Every year on 31 May, worshippers gather at the Chiesa di Regina Angelorum to pray the rosary dedicated to the Madonna. Architecture and religious tradition are therefore equally part of Castelnuovo Belbo’s cultural heritage.

Wine, Stories and Small Discoveries

From the Belbo bridge in the town centre, signs point the way to the large bench “Panchina del Nizza”. Its name is a tribute to the Barbera wine “Nizza DOCG”, whose area of origin includes Castelnuovo Belbo. Next to the bench stands a barrique known as a “bibliobotte”. It serves as a free book exchange based on the principle “Take a book, bring a book”.

The installation “I Pali delle Memorie” adds a storytelling element to these discoveries: a QR code on the post provides stories about people and the area. For families, Parco Giochi Amico is another practical place to visit; its play equipment is also suitable for children with disabilities. The Fiera di San Biagio takes place every year on the first Sunday in February and includes a typical lunch with Pacloche. This is a local gastronomic speciality consisting of particularly large agnolotti served with a mild seasoning or a tasty sauce.
