Holiday apartment in Il Palazzo and cultural discoveries

In Force, the Chiesa San Francesco stands on the site of a Franciscan monastery built in 1272. A triptych was painted for the church; it has since been dismantled, and two panels have been located. The central panel, known as “Madonna di Force”, is held in the Vatican Museums; another panel from the predella can be seen in the Louvre in Paris. Beneath the Chiesa San Francesco there is also a large artistic mechanical nativity scene. It was designed in 1992 and covers an area of 250 square metres.

Further evidence of various architectural and cultural periods can also be found in Force. Palazzo Canestrari houses the Museo del Rame and the Musei Sistini. The Porta-torre di San Francesco dates from the 18th century. The Villino Verrucci was built in the Liberty style in 1935 at the request of the architect Ernesto Verrucci Bey. The Casa Nativa della Beatrice Maria Assunta Pallotta is known as the birthplace of Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta. Together with the local tradition “Antichi Sapori per le vie del Borgo”, celebrated every August in Force, this creates a diverse picture of architecture, memory and regional customs.

Religious history and notable sites

In the village of S. Giovanni in Force, the birthplace of Francesco Antonio Marcucci, known in the area as “il palazzo”, still exists. The Casa Natale di Francesco Antonio Marcucci is a 17th-century palace. The palace where the family settled was located in Contrada Colle Riccardo, which is now called San Giovanni. A diocesan pilgrimage to the Casa Natale of Francesco Antonio Marcucci in Colle Riccardo was scheduled for 11 July 2026; the pilgrims were to visit the house there and pray together.

Mountains in the surrounding area and beyond

The landscape also offers different focal points. Monte la Torre and Monte dell’Ascensione are located in the immediate vicinity of Il Palazzo. Further afield in the region are Monte Camperi and the Monterone peak. This geographical distinction helps you differentiate between destinations in the immediate surroundings and broader regional discoveries when planning your trip. In addition, the Museo-Biblioteca “F.A.Marcucci”, the Palazzetto Longobardo, the Museo dell’arte ceramica and the Area Archeologica del Teatro Romano are located near Il Palazzo.

For families and other travel groups, this mix offers different paces: one day can focus on sacred art, museums and historic buildings, while another can be devoted to the nearby mountain landscapes or a regional discovery.
