Culture surrounding the accordion and the Risorgimento
The Museo Internazionale della Fisarmonica in Castelfidardo opened on 9 May 1981. The Museo del Risorgimento di Castelfidardo opened in 1989 and is one of the first examples in Italy of a museum distributed throughout a territory, closely connected with the social and everyday life of the local community.
The exhibition rooms of the Museo del Risorgimento di Castelfidardo present the history of the historic clash between the Sardinian-Piedmontese and Papal armies. At the same time, they provide insight into the society of the Marche during the Risorgimento.
The Sacrario-Ossario commemorates those who fell in the Risorgimento battle of 18 September 1860. Near the historic center, on Monte Cucco hill, stands the Monumento Nazionale delle Marche, commemorating the 50th anniversary of this battle.
The Monumento alla Fisarmonica e al Lavoro in Castelfidardo is a work by sculptor Franco Campanari, made of bronze for statues; it was inaugurated on 13 October 2002 and is approximately seven meters high.
The Grotte di Palazzo Tomasini form Castelfidardo’s most extensive underground tunnel system and extend for more than 100 meters in total.
Selva di Castelfidardo and paths through nature
The Selva di Castelfidardo is a 35-hectare prehistoric forest with rich biodiversity and particular botanical value. It is also a regionally protected area of floristic interest and received the qualification of Forest Bathing Center from AIMeF in July 2020.
The Selva has numerous accessible, characteristic paths. These include the Stradone di Mezzo, which extends along the entire length of the forest. Its route across the entire forest area makes it a continuous trail within the Selva.
Piazzale Don G. Minzoni, also known as Porta Marina, includes gardens and a viewpoint.
Scheduled events in 2026
The art collection of Villa Ferretti was scheduled to be open for visits every Saturday and Sunday from 13 June to 27 September 2026. For summer 2026, a start at 6:30 p.m. and a duration of approximately 45 minutes were scheduled; reservations by 12:00 noon on the same day were required. The approximately 45 minutes constitute a manageable evening window for the 6:30 p.m. start.
The Premio Internazionale “Città di Castelfidardo” was also scheduled for the period from 9 September to 13 September 2026. The competition is dedicated to accordion playing for soloists and groups. The competition falls within the period of the summer events, but represents a separate block of dates in September.
