Holiday apartment in Dumenza between summit and trails

The summit of Monte Lema can be reached from Dumenza in about 30 minutes. This approximate timeframe can be a helpful point of reference when choosing your holiday apartment if the mountain is to have a fixed place in your daily plans.

At the summit, there is a viewing terrace overlooking Lake Maggiore and the Val Dumentina. This also makes Monte Lema interesting for you if, alongside physical activity, you are looking for sweeping landscapes and a clear moment with a view.

The nature trails around Dumenza can be explored on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. This allows you to choose between walking, a ride on horseback and a more sporty option by bike.

Monte Lema also serves as a launch site for hang gliders and paragliders. This adds an aerial dimension to the trails on the ground, making the mountain accessible from a second perspective.

During high water, the cascades of the Rio Colmegnino are particularly impressive; the old Molino dei Santi is also located there. The water and the mill give this destination its own distinctive and vivid focus.

The original foundation of the Chiesa di San Giorgio dates back to the 12th century. The Chiesa dei Santi Nazaro e Celso was founded between the 16th and 17th centuries and has richly decorated interiors with Baroque stucco work and pink-coloured plaster. Different periods and a striking interior design therefore take centre stage.

The Santuario della Beata Vergine in Trezzo has interiors featuring polychrome marble, elaborate stucco work and devotional frescoes. It can be reached via a staircase with chapels of the Stations of the Cross and was the church of a Benedictine convent. Architecture, furnishings and its former monastic function come together here.

In the Borgo dipinto di Runo, frescoes depict life in the Val Dumentina, its landscapes, former everyday work and the local people. The “Runo per l’affresco” project was initiated by the residents of Runo and attracted numerous artists. For you, this offers a particularly vivid way to access the landscape and local way of life.

The Cappella della Madonna del Buon Consiglio was built in the 1920s and adds an example from the 20th century to the cultural sights.
