Piateda appeals to visitors who want to combine mountain landscapes, trails and culture. Val Venina extends across the Piateda area and is divided into four smaller valleys: Val d’Ambria, Val Caronno, also known as Scais, and Val Vedello, as well as Val Venina itself. Choosing a holiday apartment in Piateda therefore provides a varied setting between nature experiences, historic traces and excursions with different focuses.

From Ambria, you can reach the hiking and mountaineering trails of Val Venina. The valley can be reached via the road from Piateda to Vedello. At the fork, the left turn leads to Agneda and Val Caronno, while the right turn leads to Ambria. This orientation connects the different landscapes of Val Venina with specific destinations for active days, without every excursion having to offer the same experience.

Ambria: Leonardo, stone houses and a distinctive village centre

In Ambria, the multimedia tourist and educational station “Il Viaggio di Leonardo da Vinci ad Ambria” is installed at the district’s car park. The historical connection dates back to 1509: Leonardo da Vinci reached Ambria on a scientific journey via Val Brembana. The rural village centre is characterised by closely spaced stone houses, usually adjoining a stable and hayloft.

Industrial archaeology and art in Piateda

The village’s structures also give Piateda a distinctive character. The Venina and Scais dams are regarded in Piateda as examples of industrial archaeology. The power stations and office buildings of Boffetto and Venina are likewise considered elements of industrial archaeology and display features of the Liberty style. In Piateda Centro, the Chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso houses a large painting by Pietro Ligari depicting Saint Victor.

Nature experiences and water by the river

The rare endemic plant “Viola del Comolli” grows in the mountains of Piateda. A different perspective is offered by the quieter route from Piateda to Castione: it is recommended for families and children and provides nature experiences along the river bends, views of river birds and vistas of the Rhaetian terraces. Near Boffetto in the municipality of Piateda, a section with Grade III and IV rapids is used for rafting and canoeing.

Everyday life, events and the right accommodation

The Proloco Piateda organises around ten regular events each year for the community and visitors. The Biblioteca Comunale di Piateda offers local access to books and DVDs, with a collection of around 7,000 books and DVDs, including books with a local focus. When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday house in Piateda, you can therefore decide according to your preferred holiday focus: mountain trails and valleys for active days, Ambria and Piateda Centro for culture, or the route to Castione or Boffetto for nature and water experiences.
