Holiday apartment in Barlassina – culture, theatre and hiking trails
Holiday apartment in Barlassina: discover culture and trails
Barlassina combines sacred history, municipal tradition, theatre, a green space and paths through the woods. A holiday apartment in Barlassina can provide the setting for days spent visiting the Chiesa di S. Giulio, the Teatro San Giulio, the Parco “Ex Tiro a segno” and the hiking trails. The specific places range from the Chiesa di S. Giulio and the Santuario Madonna dell'Aiuto to Palazzo Rezzonico and the two theatres.
Church, Palazzo and frescoes
A church dedicated to Saint Giulio is documented in Barlassina as early as the 13th century. The Santuario Madonna dell'Aiuto was built in Barlassina. In the Chiesa di S. Giulio, the octagon and the presbytery were decorated with frescoes in 1981–82. Palazzo Rezzonico has been the seat of Barlassina's municipal administration since the foundation of the new independent municipality. In 1948, the Esposizione Permanente del Mobile di Barlassina was established there. The fresco work is dated to 1981–82 and therefore belongs to a later phase than the church documented in the 13th century.
Theatres with different programmes
The Teatro San Giulio has an auditorium with almost 400 seats and an equipped stage. Its varied programme ranges from classical theatre and contemporary dance to concerts and experimental performances. The Teatro Antonio Belloni has a seasonal programme featuring opera evenings and can accommodate almost 100 spectators. The Teatro San Giulio therefore has the larger auditorium and broader range of stage offerings; the Teatro Antonio Belloni lists almost 100 seats and seasonal opera evenings.
Green space and book exchange
The Parco “Ex Tiro a segno” is a green space with an equipped children's play area. At the main entrances, there is a “Casetta dei Libri” for exchanging books.
Games at the Centro polivalente
At the Centro polivalente bocciodromo “C. Galimberti”, visitors can play bocce, table football, table tennis and board games.
Hiking trails and connection to Milan
The first section of the Me-Mo Valle del Seveso hiking trail runs from Barlassina to Cucciago. After an underpass in the Barlassina area, the route “Dal Parco delle Groane a Camnago di Lentate” continues through woods to Misinto. The Superstrada (former SS 35) opened in the early 1970s and is considered a fast road connection to Milan; it therefore provides a different connection from the two routes to Cucciago and Misinto.
Barlassina between culture and trails
For culture enthusiasts, the townscape features religious sites, Palazzo Rezzonico and two theatres with different programmes. An evening performance at the Teatro San Giulio or the Teatro Antonio Belloni can be clearly distinguished from the activities at the Parco “Ex Tiro a segno” and the Centro polivalente bocciodromo “C. Galimberti”. The trails lead from Barlassina to Cucciago or continue through woods to Misinto; the former SS 35 provides the road connection to Milan.
