Parabiago combines riverside landscapes, extensive parkland and a remarkable cultural history. Those looking for a holiday apartment in Parabiago will find a variety of starting points for shared discoveries: paths along the Olona, local products, museums, historic buildings and places where the city’s history is directly connected with its surroundings. Depending on your interests, you can tailor your stay more towards outdoor activities, nature or culture.

By bicycle or on foot along the Olona

The Olona Green Way runs through San Vittore Olona, Legnano, Parabiago, Canegrate and Nerviano and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. The main section follows the Olona River from Legnano to Nerviano for approximately 10 km. The route runs mainly along cycle paths and unpaved roads, with a smaller section on regular roads. This provides clear guidance for anyone wishing to combine a longer tour with a more leisurely exploration of the landscape during their stay.

Along the Olona Green Way, there are also places where local products are made. Tastings or purchases are available at farms, outlets, restaurants and Spazio ZEROZERO. This means that a tour can be seen not only as a route through the landscape, but also as an opportunity to discover regional products. When choosing between a holiday apartment and a holiday home, the preferred mix of excursions, walks and culinary stops can therefore be a useful consideration, without requiring a particular type of accommodation.

Nature across several municipalities

Parco dei Mulini is a local park of supra-municipal interest, officially recognized on 10 March 2008. It extends along the Olona and the Villoresi Canal and covers the municipalities of Legnano, Canegrate, San Vittore Olona and Parabiago, as well as Nerviano since 1 January 2011. Parco del Roccolo is also a local park of supra-municipal interest. Covering an area of 1,810 hectares, it extends across Arluno, Busto Garolfo, Canegrate, Casorezzo, Nerviano and Parabiago. The two parks make it clear that Parabiago can be experienced not only as an individual town centre, but also as part of a larger landscape.

Cultural sites with different focal points

At the Crespi Bonsai Museum, guided tours for individuals or groups can be organized by prior reservation. The Museo della Fondazione Carla Musazzi offers a different perspective on the town’s history. Since March 2023, it has been housed in the Salone delle Colonne of Villa Corvini at Via Santa Maria 27 in Parabiago. The new exhibition includes a section on cabinetmaker Giuseppe Maggiolini, as well as objects and machinery relating to the industrial history of the town of Parabiago.

The OFFICINA RANCILIO 1926 museum is owned by the Rancilio family. As a cultural venue, it aims to present, preserve and enhance the company’s and the family’s historical heritage, collection and photographic archive.

Villa Corvini and its park have been protected under Law No. 1089 of 1936 by virtue of a decree dated 7 April 1973. Individual architectural details also deserve attention: the staircase consists of two flights with an openwork stone balustrade decorated with floral motifs and was built between 1700 and 1702. The current façade of the Church of Santi Gervasio e Protasio is not original. It dates from 1780 and was designed by G. Piermarini.

Another historical story leads to the Battle of Parabiago in 1339. After the battle, a church dedicated to Saint Ambrose was commissioned at the site of the battle in thanksgiving for Luchino Visconti’s reputed miraculous deliverance. The Ecomuseum routes aim to help people rediscover significant places in the town that preserve identity-forming values of the local community as part of its shared cultural heritage. Parco Corvini complements this selection as a municipal park rich in trees.

For families and other travel groups, this combination offers a variety of daily rhythms: a tour along the river, a visit focused on culture or a stay between parkland and urban history. A holiday apartment in Parabiago can serve as a starting point for making your personal selection, while the specific design of your stay depends on the experiences you are looking for.
