Cesano Boscone between nature and culture
Cesano Boscone combines nature observation, trails and architectural history. Parco Natura and Bosco dell'acqua represent two landscape themes, while the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista and Villa Marazzi, Lattuada provide architectural and historical points of reference. The view extends from wetlands and woodland paths to façades, courtyards and different construction phases.
Nature and trails
Parco Natura covers 18 hectares and is characterised by groups of trees, rows of trees, irrigated meadows and wetlands. These wetlands are connected to historic fontanili. More than 63 animal species have been recorded in the park, predominantly birds. Anyone wishing to observe birds can therefore also include Parco Natura in their daily itinerary.
Bosco dell'acqua has 700-metre-long cycle paths and footpaths. Bosco dell'acqua is accessible via Via Vespucci and Parco Aldo Moro and has a woodland area of 10,000 m². The 700 metres form a manageable section of their own for cycling or walking; the two access points provide a specific starting point for planning. For a walk, Via Vespucci and Parco Aldo Moro mark two access points. On a cycling tour, the 700-metre-long section can be included as a stage in the day's itinerary.
Architectural history and architecture
The Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista has a two-storey neoclassical façade articulated by two pairs of pilasters. Its architectural history includes an ancient baptistery church, a first extension and a three-aisled collegiate church. There are also at least three baptisteries and several tombs. For those interested in culture, this building brings together its neoclassical façade design and several older construction phases.
Villa Marazzi, Lattuada consists of the villa and the farm buildings that enclose its courtyard. The main building has a portico with five arcades and a wooden coffered ceiling. The courtyard provides the spatial connection between the villa and the farm buildings; the portico, arcades and coffered ceiling are concentrated in the main building.
