The Complesso Monastico di San Benedetto Po monastery complex was founded in 1007 by Tedaldo di Canossa. The abbey church was rebuilt by Giulio Romano between 1540 and 1545; older Romanesque and Gothic structures were retained. The Museo Civico Polironiano was founded in 1977 and is considered one of Italy’s most important ethnographic museums.
