The Monastero di Santa Maria delle Grazie was first documented in 1511 as a Servite monastery for women. In 1601, it had twelve professed sisters and nine lay sisters. The parish of the Chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo apostoli within the Pieve di Misano can be traced back to 1404. The painting is framed by a heavy, elaborately crafted Baroque frame.
