Bordolano combines river landscapes, art and regional history with routes for cycling and walking. The town is located in the Parco dell’Oglio Nord Regional Park, a natural landscape shaped by river scenery and biological diversity. River landscapes and wildlife observation along the Oglio

Numerous paths run through Bordolano. Along the routes in and around Bordolano, visitors can observe fallow deer, foxes and numerous species of waterfowl in their natural habitat. The landscape of the Parco dell’Oglio Nord gives a stay a clear connection with nature, while the paths offer various ways to explore the surroundings at your own pace.

Churches, bridge and historic buildings

The parish church of San Giacomo Maggiore houses Vincenzo Campi’s Pietà, a painting dated 1570. The church was extensively remodelled; the work began towards the end of the 19th century and was completed in 1905. Bordolano is also home to two 16th-century terracotta pillars from former fortifications.

The Santuario Santa Maria della Neve stands on a river terrace of the Oglio beside an old farmhouse that preserves part of the medieval Castelmurato fortress. During extensive restoration in 1672, the Santuario was given a coffered ceiling, a small dome and four frescoes depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary: the Nativity, the Adoration of the Magi, the Purification of Mary and the Visitation.

The Ponte Vecchio was built between 1880 and 1890. It is a rare example of a single-arch bridge and is considered evidence of industrial archaeology and civil engineering.

The origins of Villa Zaccaria date back to the 16th century. In 1676, the complex was extended and acquired its present form. The ballroom contains frescoes by the Florentine painter Sebastiano Galeotti. The villa is surrounded by a monumental park designed by Giambattista Zaist, featuring terraces and a geometric water basin.

Cycle paths, feast days and Lombard cuisine

A cycle path connects Quinzano d’Oglio and Bordolano and forms part of the Greenway dell’Oglio. The river landscape of the Parco dell’Oglio Nord shapes the routes in and around Bordolano.

Two firmly established annual feast days are part of the local calendar. Every year on 25 July, Bordolano celebrates the patronal feast in honour of the Apostle James with religious celebrations, community gatherings and activities organised by the local community. At the Santuario Santa Maria della Neve, local cycling groups and residents take part each year in the solemn feast held on the first Sunday after 5 August.

Lombard cuisine is represented by Lagattaubriaca, an enoteca with a kitchen in Bordolano’s Parco Oglio Nord that is open to visitors. Lombard dishes are served there.
