Lomazzo: History, Art and Parco del Lura

It is an example of Lombard Neoclassical architecture and was designed around 1790 by the Ticinese architect Simone Cantoni.

The cultural side includes the Museo Puthod in Lomazzo Town Hall, which houses important works by the painter Dolores Puthod. The Villa Somaini complex comprises Villa Somaini, Villa Raimondi-Carcano and various ancillary buildings. This picture is complemented by the Cotonificio Somaini: despite its restoration, it retains its original appearance and is an example of 19th-century industrial archaeology. Parco del Lura and paths around Bissago

Lomazzo is one of the nine municipalities whose territory is touched by Parco del Lura. The park’s landscape includes oak and black locust woods, remaining pine forests, riparian forests and agriculturally used areas.
