Rodengo Saiano combines several very different ways of experiencing a trip: industrial history at Musil Rodengo Saiano, sacred architecture, nature trails on Monte Delma, the Blue Route and visits to local producers.

Holiday apartment in Rodengo Saiano: culture and history

Musil Rodengo Saiano preserves important collections of machinery and objects documenting the history of manufacturing industry in Brescia and Italy. The Musil storage facility can only be visited by prior appointment. The “Inside cinema” exhibition provides an overview of important moments in the origins and development of cinema. The collection and the exhibition focus on different aspects: the machinery and objects introduce visitors to the history of industry, while “Inside cinema” places the development of cinema at the centre.

Sacred buildings with distinctive historical traces

The Centro culturale ex Chiesa di S. Salvatore is housed in a restored building that has been converted into an auditorium. Excavations at the Centro culturale ex Chiesa di S. Salvatore uncovered the foundations of a church dating from the 9th to 10th century. Restoration of the complex was completed in 2002 and turned it into a centre for cultural events. Its current use as an auditorium thus stands alongside the church foundations from the 9th to 10th century uncovered during the excavations.

Trails, landscape and regional connections

The Ex Convento Francescano lies on the slopes of Colle Delma and was expanded from 1671 onwards with the arrival of the Frati Minori Osservanti. The ascent along Via del Calvario to the Ex Convento Francescano features fourteen Stations of the Cross. The Abbazia Olivetana di S. Nicola acquired its present appearance through a reconstruction begun in the Renaissance style after it was handed over to the Olivetans in 1446. Three cloisters, a refectory and a chapter house have been preserved there.

The Blue Route begins and ends at the Abbazia di S. Nicola in Rodengo Saiano. As a circular route, the Blue Route retains the Abbazia di S. Nicola as both the starting and finishing point of the same trail. Monte Delma has nature trails that can be walked in every season. Rodengo Saiano is also included in the second day of the long-distance hiking trail La Via delle Sorelle. The ARRIVA LS029 bus route connects Brescia with Rodengo Saiano in about 35 minutes. The bus connection complements the cultural and landscape destinations in Rodengo Saiano with a connection to Brescia.

Wineries and a flat walking route

Visits to wineries and tastings with local producers are offered in Rodengo Saiano; prior reservation is mandatory for these visits and tastings. A flat walking route suitable for everyone, especially families, leads from Parco del Frantoio in Rodengo Saiano to Borgo del Maglio di Ome.
