Provezze is characterised by extensive vineyards and lies in a moraine amphitheatre. This combination of cultural landscape and landform allows you to consider nature, trails and architectural heritage side by side when planning your trip.
Vineyards, moraine landscape and four contrade
The historic streets of Provezze pass through four contrade, which divide the area into small hamlets. For your stay, this structure provides a clear framework for planning culture, landscape and trails as separate interests. In this way, beyond individual sights, the village remains present as a small-scale landscape characterised by vineyards.
Church art with Renaissance traces
The parish church of San Filastrio is located in the heart of the Provezze district. It preserves an altarpiece depicting Saints Apollonio and Filastrio, a work by the Renaissance painter Il Moretto. For days devoted to culture, San Filastrio can be planned as a separate focus.
Restoration and conservation work at San Filastrio in the 20th and 21st centuries brought to light 16th-century frescoes, including depictions of Blessed Simonino da Trento. This church combines Renaissance art and later layers of work into a multifaceted cultural theme.
In Persaga, construction of the Church of the Nativity of Mary began in the mid-16th century; about a century later, it was completed and began operating. The church is an example of rural architecture that blends harmoniously into the surrounding agricultural landscape. It also preserves an altarpiece from 1587 attributed to Pietro Marone.
The Church of San Rocco in the Sergnana district of Provezze preserves the painting “San Rocco e Nicola da Tolentino invocano la Vergine di risparmiare Sergnana dalla peste alla presenza dei Santi Bartolomeo, Faustino e Giovita”. San Rocco is regarded as cultural, historical-artistic and architectural heritage with a history spanning around five centuries. Palazzo Soncini and Villa Gussalli are also located in Provezze.
Trails through hills and vineyards
For active days, different trail options are part of the picture of Provezze. The San Michele Trail begins near the Segnana district of Provezze. The Church of San Michele is located along the Percorso Vita San Michele in the green hills around Provezze. On the Blue Route in Franciacorta, a pleasant road lined with vineyards leads towards Provezze; at a roundabout, continue straight and then turn left towards Provezze. This allows you to include hiking and cycling as separate focuses in your planning.
Choose a holiday apartment in Provezze by holiday theme
