Pilzone invites you to enjoy a journey combining walking experiences, lake views, churches and local activities. If you are considering a holiday apartment in Pilzone, it is worth deciding on your preferred daily rhythm: should your stay be shaped by the Antica Strada Valeriana, historic churches, views of the water and island, or a special culinary experience?

Trails, Water and Local Orientation

The first section of the Antica Strada Valeriana from Pilzone to Tassano includes a flat, paved section equipped for people with disabilities. Signs reading “Antica Strada Valeriana” and the VV trail markings show the way there.

Those travelling from Pilzone towards San Fermo can enjoy views of Lake Iseo and Monte Isola. There is also a freely accessible beach on Via Giovanni XXIII. Pilzone d’Iseo is a stop on the Trenord Brescia–Iseo–Edolo line, so travel planning includes not only walking and lakeside attractions but also a documented railway connection.

Churches between the Centre and the Plateau

The Church of San Tommaso stands in a small square in the centre of Pilzone. From there, the Strada Valeriana climbs uphill towards Valle Camonica. Inside are early frescoes, including the Madonna del latte and a holy apostle, possibly Thomas. Their archaic style suggests that they date from the 14th or 15th century.

In the upper part of the Pilzone d’Iseo district, the small Church of San Fermo stands on the Prato del monte plateau. It was built in the 17th century and is dedicated to the saint invoked for the protection of livestock and shepherds. It can be reached via a steep paved path or along the hiking trail marked 242.

The former Negrinelli house, dating from the 19th century, stands on Pilzone’s lakeside road; the first tricolour flag of the Risorgimento uprising flew from it. The parish church of Santa Maria e dei Santi Pietro e Paolo contains an altarpiece dated 1741 depicting “La Vergine in gloria” together with Saints Pietro, Francesco, Luigi Gonzaga and Carlo Borromeo.

Big Bench, Views and Local Experiences

The Big Bench of Pilzone d’Iseo is located in the San Fermo area. From Piazza Basilio Cittadini in Pilzone, it can be reached via Via Volontari del Sangue and Via San Tommaso. From there, there are views of Sebino and Monte Isola.

MilleMonti offers a bookable hiking experience to the Big Bench of Pilzone d’Iseo, followed by an aperitif. On 29 August 2026, “La Mortadellata” took place again in Pilzone d’Iseo; the event coincided with the 25th anniversary of the association founded in 2001.

Plan Your Holiday Apartment in Pilzone around Your Experiences

When choosing your holiday apartment, you can use these differences as a planning consideration: the flat, paved section of the Antica Strada Valeriana contrasts with the steep paved path to San Fermo, while churches, the Big Bench, the beach and the railway station add further highlights. This allows you to organise your travel days around specific experiences without making assumptions about the features of any individual accommodation.
