Pertica Alta: Culture, Landscape and Local Traditions

Pertica Alta reveals its distinctive character where traditional culture, striking buildings and a vast mountain landscape come together. The Santuario di S. Andrea o dei Morti di Barbaine is a 14th-century building. The south wall features splayed Romanesque lancet windows, while the bell tower has pointed-arch windows. The Oratorio di San Bernardo stands along the historic route that led from the Pertiche to Nozza. Together, the two buildings provide different insights into Pertica Alta's architectural and historical traces.

The Forno Fusorio di Livemmo is a facility dating from the second half of the 16th century. Historically, it was initially used for the first processing of iron and later exclusively for melting iron waste. The Forno Fusorio can be reached via a mule track that descends from the Livemmo hamlet and covers an elevation difference of 300 metres. This makes it possible to combine a cultural destination with an experience on the trail.

Traditions and special experiences

During the TRANSUMANZA, visitors can accompany the herd as it is driven up to and down from the mountain pastures of Pertica Alta at 1,500 metres. This experience takes place in June and September. The Carnevale di Livemmo also draws on a clearly recognisable local tradition: it begins on Saturday afternoon with a procession of masks through the streets of the village and continues on Sunday with the appearance of the three traditional double masks “la vècia dal val”, “l'omasì del zerlo” and “il doppio”.

Belprato can be visited freely; you can choose the tour or route you prefer. Belprato Paese Dipinto adds an artistic dimension. The project began in 2012 and involved inviting local and other artists to Belprato every August so that they could leave an artistic contribution on the walls of the village houses. A walk therefore combines free exploration of the village with artistic wall decorations.

Plateau, waterfalls and peaks

Campo di Nasso is an expansive plateau at an altitude of around 1,500 metres, between the sky and forests in the quiet valleys of Pertica Alta. The landscape is therefore particularly appealing to those who, when choosing their holiday apartment, are looking not only for a place to stay overnight but also for surroundings with a distinct mountain character.

The Cascata del Pisot and Pos de l'acqua waterfalls are also located around Pertica Alta. The Corna Blacca peak is likewise in the surrounding area. Together with Campo di Nasso, these destinations provide various options for days spent among landscapes, activity and discovery, without culture and local history fading into the background.
