Castello Lantieri was probably built around 1200 on the ruins of an older manor house dating back to 1007. The Torre Lantieri also bears witness to the history of the town. It was probably built in the 14th century as an extension of Paratico’s fortifications and converted into a museum after a restoration of the historic monument was completed at the end of 2009.

The Church of San Pietro stands on the western hill of Paratico, in a rural landscape largely characterized by vineyards. Its origins date back to the 15th century, as shown by a fresco dated 1444 and other fresco fragments attributed to the 15th century. Every year on 8 December, the church hosts the “Madonna dei Pom” (“Madonna dei pomi”) festival.

In the town park, the Neo-Gothic Oselanda building houses contemporary art exhibitions and offers views of the lake. The permanent exhibition “Viale dei volti” features stone sculptures associated with Paratico’s Biennale of Art and Culture of Sandstone, “Scolpire in Piazza”. The former Paratico–Palazzolo railway line began operating in 1876 and was approximately 10 kilometres long.

Water, nature and paths around Paratico

Parco dei Taxodi is a natural oasis with raised walkways and aquatic plants. These plants provide shelter for bird species such as grey herons. Another link between the landscape and the paths is the Sentiero Verde dell’Oglio, which runs almost entirely through the Parco Regionale dell’Oglio Nord regional park. After passing through Paratico, it reaches the Seriola Fusia, a 14th-century irrigation canal that diverts water from the Oglio.

Various routes are available for cycling excursions. The Brescia–Paratico cycle path offers views of the Franciacorta hills and Lake Iseo and can be travelled in both directions. The Paratico–Palazzolo sull’Oglio cycle path runs along the Oglio River between the two towns. The fourth stage of La Via delle Sorelle leads from Sarnico across the bridge to Paratico and then along the river on the Sentiero Verde dell’Oglio to the municipality of Capriolo.

The shores of Paratico are also suitable for wakeboarding, water skiing and canoeing. Panoramic train rides on the Sebino railway connect Paratico-Sarnico with Palazzolo sull’Oglio. Historic carriages with outward-facing seats are used for this purpose.
