Discover Montirone: Church, Paths and Cava Canali
Montirone can be explored through specific religious sites. The parish church of San Lorenzo Martire is located in the town centre. The eastern part of Palazzo Lechi contains the façade of the Sant’Antonio chapel and the sacristy. Culture enthusiasts can therefore see both the church building in the centre and the religious structures at Palazzo Lechi in the town. The church building in the town centre and the structures at Palazzo Lechi provide two specific points of reference for Montirone’s cultural theme.
Library and local groups
The Biblioteca Comunale “Oriana Fallaci” has been open to the public on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. since 1 January 2026. The Gruppo di Lettura, which has been active there since 2009, also meets at the library on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:15 p.m. The Gruppo Cinema was founded in January 2025. The Gruppo Cinema is therefore more recent than the Gruppo di Lettura, which has been active since 2009. On Tuesdays, the opening hours extend from the afternoon into the early evening. The monthly start of the reading group at 6:15 p.m. falls within this period. There are 75 minutes between 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The library can therefore be included in the day’s planning as a cultural time block on Tuesday.
Walking on a fixed schedule
The Gruppo di Cammino di Montirone covers approximately 5 kilometres. The meetings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15 p.m. until approximately 7:30–7:40 p.m. The meeting therefore lasts approximately 75 to 85 minutes. Anyone incorporating the group walk into an active part of the day can allow for this period as its concluding activity. Two days of the week are available for this, so the appointment can be integrated into different daily plans. The early evening thereby combines the approximate walking distance with a fixed time window for the group walk.
The path in Parco della Cominetta
A 5-kilometre-long path runs through Parco della Cominetta. Its surface is unpaved, and it also runs along the Brescia–Parma railway line. For a walk, its fixed length, the surface and the route along the railway line must therefore all be taken into account. The Brescia–Parma railway line provides a fixed spatial reference for orientation along the path. In the park, the fixed path length, the unpaved ground and the route along the Brescia–Parma railway line come together in one section.
Cava Canali between park and nature observation
Cava Canali in Montirone is used for sport fishing and as a park. Fourteen dragonfly species have been observed at the former Cava Canali.
