Clusane combines a lakeside promenade characterised by numerous moorings for fishing boats with culture, regional cuisine and special activities. Specific local highlights include the Chiesa di Cristo Re, the Chiesa di San Rocco, the Chiesa Vecchia and the Percorso Verde in Franciacorta.

Lake and active experiences

A private boat tour by Iseo Lake Experience starts in Clusane aboard the Naèt, a traditional wooden fishing boat from the Sebino area. It includes a scenic trip between islands, hidden bays and natural landscapes. The Percorso Verde in Franciacorta is a 26-kilometre mountain-bike circular route that starts and ends on Via Risorgimento in Clusane. The route is specified as taking 2 hours and 30 minutes and including 243 metres of elevation gain. It is signposted with signs bearing the inscription “Percorso verde-itinerario Franciacorta Brut”. For day planning, the route, duration and elevation gain represent different key figures: they indicate the extent, timeframe and climbs to be tackled on the cycling circuit. The private boat tour and the mountain-bike circular route therefore represent two clearly distinct forms of movement: one on the water, the other on two wheels.

Churches and history

The Chiesa di Cristo Re has an exposed-brick façade, a central portico, glass-block sections and a large fresco of Christ the King. The Chiesa di San Rocco in Clusane has a single-nave layout, a vaulted ceiling and a raised chancel. The Chiesa Vecchia is Clusane’s first parish church and already existed in 1093, when it was handed over to the Cluniac order. It was also set up as a hall for community meetings, conferences, concerts and theatre performances.

Surroundings between culture and mountains

The nearby surroundings of Clusane include Castello Carmagnola, a castle, Palazzo Monti della Corte, a palace, and Borgo Antico San Vitale, a museum. The Museo Agricolo e del Vino Ricci Curbastro is a museum in the area around Clusane. The mountains also add their own distinctive touches: Monte Alto is a mountain in the immediate vicinity of Clusane. Monte Bronzone, Col Croce and Monte Creo are mountains in the area around Clusane. The surroundings of Clusane therefore feature historic buildings and museums alongside Monte Alto, Monte Bronzone, Col Croce and Monte Creo.

Regional cuisine and craftsmanship

Every year, in the third week of July, Clusane hosts the traditional culinary event “Settimana della Tinca al Forno con Polenta”. The participating restaurants serve their own recipe for baked tench as part of a set-price menu. At Zafferano del Sebino, the saffron threads are harvested by hand; the stigmas are separated from the flowers and dried at a low temperature.
