Capovalle Between Mountain Trails and Remembrance
Capovalle is a destination for holiday days where activity and history stand side by side. The Alta Via dei forti runs through Capovalle and is part of a route extending across five municipalities: Idro, Treviso Bresciano, Capovalle, Bagolino and Anfo.
Military History in Two Museums
The military history of the area becomes particularly tangible at the Museo della Guerra 1915-18 e dei reperti bellici in Capovalle. It preserves evidence of the events of the First and Second World Wars. The Museo reperti bellici di Capovalle also displays artefacts from the First World War, including uniforms, weapons, tools and supplies. The Capovalle War Museum can be visited on Sundays in June, July and August, as well as at other times by reservation.
Sacred History and Frescoes
The Chiesetta al Redentore on the summit of Monte Stino was inaugurated on 15 July 1979 after around seven months of intensive work. In the mountains of Capovalle stands the Santuario del Rio Secco, which was built at the beginning of the 18th century and extended in 1906. The Santuario del Rio Secco is decorated with frescoes by the Brescian artist Giuseppe Mozzoni. The two destinations add different historical and sacred facets to your travel plans, from a precisely dated inauguration to a church with a long construction history and artistic decoration.
Hiking on Monte Stino
Monte Stino lies between Lake Idro and Lake Garda; panoramic views are available just a few minutes from the mountain refuge. The Rifugio Monte Stino can be reached by car from Capovalle and is located about 4.5 km from the village. Monte Stino has well-preserved mule tracks suitable for hiking. The ascent to Monte Stino follows trail 454 and then trail 456. This gives you a clearly defined mountain theme: you can take the landscape between two lakes, the panoramic views and the different trail sections into account when planning your days.
A Night Hike Around Capovalle
The range of experiences also includes the Caminada de not. For more than a decade, the Protezione Civile has organised it as a non-competitive night hike with tastings along the paths around Capovalle. This makes it easy to organise your interests when choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home in Capovalle: museums and the Santuario stand alongside mountain hiking on Monte Stino and the nighttime Caminada de not. In this way, you can base your accommodation choice on the experiences you want to give the most space to during your holiday.
