Gromo: Cultural and Mountain Discoveries
Gromo lies on the right bank of the Serio River. Castello Ginami, Büs di Tàcoi and the Parco sospeso nel bosco offer very different perspectives on the area: history, a cave landscape and activities in Spiazzi di Gromo. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Gromo, you can plan your trip around the aspect that interests you most.
Holiday Apartment in Gromo Between History and Nature
Castello Ginami was built in 1226 and stands on a rocky promontory above the Serio River. The Serio formed an important crossing point and a strategic location for controlling the valley. This gives the castle complex a direct connection between landscape and history, without requiring the two themes to be considered separately.
Palazzo Milesi also leads into Gromo's past. The building dates from the 15th century and is traditionally dated to 1456. Its cellar was formerly used to store iron bars and iron blocks, which were used to make weapons. For days focused on culture, this offers a different way of experiencing the area than an outing in the mountain landscape.
Büs di Tàcoi: Cave Landscape with Clear Planning Details
Büs di Tàcoi is a 1,500-metre-long cave with extensive karst features. These include shafts, meanders, galleries, narrow passages, chimneys, lakes and siphons with sinter formations in various colours. The entrance is located at an altitude of 1,500 metres on Monte Redondo, opposite Gromo's town centre on the road to the hamlet of Boario Spiazzi. From there, the entrance can be reached after approximately one hour on foot.
Access is subject to an important restriction: since 18 May 2024, Büs di Tàcoi has been accessible only to duly authorised persons in accordance with the municipal regulations. The easiest route from the entrance to Lago Verde covers approximately 600 metres, ascends 182 metres in elevation and takes 5 to 7 hours. These figures give the cave destination a markedly different profile from a short visit to a building or a walk in the woods.
Spiazzi di Gromo for Forest and Biking Experiences
The Parco sospeso nel bosco in Spiazzi di Gromo is located within the Parco delle Orobie Bergamasche. The facility is set in a centuries-old fir forest and includes 123 aerial challenges. The courses are classified by difficulty, meaning that the respective difficulty helps determine the character of the stay when planning your visit.
For mountain biking enthusiasts, the Val Sedornia a Gromo route starts in Gromo. It follows the paved road uphill to Spiazzi di Gromo and the bike park there. This allows you to take your preferred daily rhythm into account when choosing where to stay.
